Spring and Labor Day appeared more than a 100 years ago. Nowadays celebrations of May 1 lost their political meaning in Russia, so most Russians use Spring and Labor Day for gardening, travelling and spending time with their families.
Therefore WeHeartMoscow proposes 8 things to do during the May Holidays!
1. VISIT GORKY PARK RESOURTS
The area of the Gorky Park will be divided into several “resort» zones. There will be “Tropical Islands” with artificial beach, “Gagra” that will hold musical evenings from 16:00 to 19:00, “San Tropez of Brigitte Bardot times” with petanque and girlish chat with cider in 60th style, “Nice” with a large Garage Sale, “Greece” – a dating zone, “Côte d’Ivoire” with drum rhythms and African motifs, “England” with badminton tournaments, “Turkey and Latin America” with children’s entertainment program. Every day there will be dance performances by masters of flamenco, rock and roll, jazz and hip -hop. Be located on the Big Field will become a Hotel of Hammocks and Golitsinsky pond will host performances by animators dressed as sailors and flutists.
2. RIDE A BIKE AND CREATE A ROBOT IN SOKOLNIKI PARK
Velo & Segway Show starts at Sokolniki Park on May 1. Exhibition of retro-bicycles, meetings of bike-lovers, lectures and many bike-curiosities await visitors of the festival.
The Innopark in Sokolniki holds Robotics Festival. Children will be making robots, learn to manage them, and even take home some of them. There will be robot battles and races with remote controls.
3. FEEL “FRESH ENERGY” IN THE HERMITAGE GARDEN
The Hermitage Garden will hold comics exhibition, rap battles and break-dancers’ performances. The stage will be occupied by ska musicians: St. Petersburg Ska-Jazz Review, Shootki and Private Radio. Visitors will be able to participate in competitions and master-classes.
4. WALK WITH MARCHING BANDS IN MUZEON
Live music in the most unusual places, orchestras on – that is the idea of Marching Bands Festival.
For two days at the Krimskaya embankment, you will be hearing warm and joyful sound of brass. popular Moscow teams will perform with legendary brass bands from France, India , Israel and Serbia .
Special atmosphere of the festival will be supported with various interactive platforms with master classes and entertainments for children and adults. You will learn to play musical instruments, see an exhibition of brass and drum show, jump on the trampoline, ride on scooters and much more. There will be a market at the embankment where you can buy souvenirs, wooden toys, natural cosmetics, CDs and vinyl, bags and sweatshirts, as well as the tastiest sandwiches, fruits and lemonade.
5. VISIT TROYKA FAIR AT THE REVOLUTION SQUARE
The fair in the city center (near Ploshad Revoluciy metro station) proposes to eat feed airy donuts and pancakes, declare love for the veterans through mosaic “Star Gratefulness”, admire the 3D- images of old Moscow through the digital telescope or play hopscotch at the diode field nearby. In addition, there are promised theatrical performances and several musical groups: Therr Maitz and Guru Groove Foundation.
6. SEE GREAT RENAISSANCE PAINTERS IN THE PUSHKIN MUSEUM
A great exhibition opened in the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts. There are brought the most distinguished painters of the early Italian Renaissance. Interactive exhibition has been traveling around the world for two decades. It opens in Moscow on May 1 in Garage Center for Contemporary Art. 120 artists, choreographers, architects, sexologists and others developed instructions for creating art objects. Therefore, exhibitors and visitors make art themselves.
This format came up twenty years ago with the curator Hans Ulrich Obrist and artists Christian Boltanski and Bertrand Lavier. 80 different instructions are prepaired for Moscow by Yuri Albert, Oleg Kulik, Konstantin Stargazers, Andrew Monastery and other artists.
8. BE SURPRISED BY STREET MAGIC
Magicians, mimes and jugglers will gather at the festival «Street Magic» in Kuzminki Park to help you experience the atmosphere of magic. The best young magicians Russia, as well as the most famous magicians of the country –Safronov Brothers will perform at the main stage. Kids will love the classes in the “School of magic”, where they can learn simple tricks, create their own magic wand and wizard costume.
