The Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, Department of Private Collections invites to the large exhibition «Surrealism and livre d`artiste», which will run from February 18 to May 18.
The term ‘Livre d’artiste’ or ‘artist’s book’ first appeared in France at the beginning of the last century –when surrealists illustrated poems of Verlaine and Mallarm?, and published the famous fantasy magazines, as a tribune for their ideas.
The exhibition will cover a half-century history of surrealism – from the 20s to 1980. You’ll be able to see works by Joan Mir?, Andr? Masson, Yves Tanguy, Dorothea Tanning, Leonor Fini, Jean Arp, Max Ernst and Enrico Baia. The project also promises to show the little-known work by Picasso and rarities by Salvador Dali.
