Works by famous artists from Russia, Austria, Germany, Holland and the United States will be presented four different venues: the National Centre for Contemporary Art, State Art Gallery «Na Kashirke» in «Gallery Belyaevo» and State Art Gallery «Peresvetov Lane». The exhibition invites us to wonder, investigate and, in some cases, to interact with illuminated environments and sculptures.
The project is dedicated to the phenomenon of light in contemporary art. Thus, in the NCCA exhibition, light will serve as a visual message and mediator between the author’s thoughts and the viewer’s perception.
Light in different media forms – film, photography and conceptual objects – will be shown in State Art Gallery «Na Kashirke». Art Gallery «Peresvetov Lane» presents light in its evolution from painting to new media. «Gallery Belyaevo’s» exhibition is built around the idea of Kazimir Malevich about changing natural light into technological paradigm, where artificial light begins to dominate over the natural one.
Each exhibition will become a part of a large-scale installation that will acquaint visitors with the features of light perception and todays technological innovations.
