Free Wi-Fi has appeared at 320 bus stops in Moscow. Now you can enjoy free internet access at the bus stops near the subway stations, bus stations and railway platforms. A special sticker will inform you about the presence of Wi-Fi at the bus stop. It is possible to use any mobile device – smartphone, tablet or laptop to connect to the network. You should choose Mosgortrans_Free from a list of available connections and pass authorization via SMS. Simultaneously, more than 50 people can access Wi-Fi at each stop. The duration of one session is 25 minutes and the speed of the Internet connection is up to ten megabits per second.
By the end of autumn, the number of stops with free internet access will increase to 450. Presently, you can find a list of Wi-Fi equipped bus stops at the Moscow Transport Department website.
The first public transport stop with free Wi-Fi appeared in Moscow on June 1, 2015. It was a bus stop at the Garden Ring, near the Puppet Theater. Since that time, the bus stops Wi-Fi network has registered about 70 000 unique users.
