Watermelon is almost sacred thing for Muscovites. It is something about happy summer times, sun and leisure. It is considered that the best watermelons appear in Moscow in August. Before that, shops sell watermelons from Iran or Egypt, and at the beginning of August, the big berry becomes ripe at the Russian south.
Therefore, watermelon bazaars opened today in Moscow. There you can buy watermelons and melons grown in the Astrakhan and Volgograd. 250 points have been opened by now, but their number will rise to 920 soon. The price per kilogram of watermelon ranges from 9 to 35 rubles (€0,2-€0,8). Melons cost from 15 to 110 rubles per kilo (€0,3-€2,2).

It is a city service that helps you buy a watermelon, not going to the bazaar. Title is taken from Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki, creator of the cult cartoon «Kiki’s Delivery Service».
