In anticipation of the day of Knowledge – September 1 – Moscow holds a great amount of different activities for children and their parents. Many festivals will go in different Moscow parks this weekend. WeHeartMoscow has chosen the most interesting ones.
DAD’S DAY
Poklonnaya Gora will host a big holiday for fathers this Saturday, August 30. Festive program includes concerts, illusionist show, circus performance with animals, gifts and surprises.
There will be over 20 thematic areas, where children will be able to learn about various professions in an interactive way. Girls will learn to weave creative braids on mannequin, sister or mother. Participants will be invited to make a confection from waffles, chocolate, nuts, raisins. Every child and dad will be able to get into the wonderful world of medicine – become a doctor, diagnose and make an operation. And even feel oneself a real farmer on the improvised “dairy farm”.
Children’s dance groups and vocal studios will perform on stage. Kids and parents will be able to take part in a walk-quest and paintball battle, conquer a climbing wall, construct an architectural structure, go fishing, karting, practice in gymnastics classes and train in diplomacy.
WEEK OF BRITISH CULTURE
Family educational festival with many sites dedicated to British culture and history started on August 28 at the Moscow City Palace of Children and Youth Creativity on the Sparrow Hills. At the weekend, there will also be a lot of fun! Harry Potter fans will participate in quests and contests, and «Alice in Wonderland» site will host a chess tournament. There will also be a scout camp with a climbing gym, pirate’s games and a quiz based on the works of Arthur Conan Doyle.
Visitors will be able to participate in costumed presentation based on literary works, intellectual games, quests and contests, as well as a historical reconstruction of the English knight tournament. Visitors Week British culture will learn to play croquet and archery. Youth music groups will perform English classic rock at the festival «Back in USSR».
The stadium near the Moscow City Palace of Children and Youth Creativity on the Sparrow Hills will host the tournament on mini-football.
PARADE OF KNOWLEDGE
On August 31, the «Hermitage» Garden will be transformed into a center of intellectual creativity. A performance «Parade of Knowledge» awaits for the guests. Under the guidance of professional filmmakers and artists, participants will create their own unique characters and creative installations.
Each team will present their interpretation of the importance of knowledge at the parade and take part in the creation of living pictures. During the day, in the garden will hold three marches. Preparing for them will start at 15:00, 16:00 and 17:00. Participants will have 40 minutes to create their own art objects symbolizing various disciplines and scientific discoveries: the solar system, a huge apple, “Pythagorean pants”, known axioms and theorems. Famous thinkers, scientists and inventors: Einstein, Galileo, Mendeleev, Aristotle, Newton, Pythagoras and Lomonosov will become inspiration for the participants.
Only on this day, there will be an interactive children’s library, where mysterious «Magic Book Salon» and master classes will be held. Throughout the festival, from 15:00 to 18:00, adults and children will have an opportunity to take part in the creative workshop on sand drawing. Under the guidance of professional artists visitors will learn the basics of sand painting, learn how to draw pictures and even create entire movies
