Winter season is open in Moscow and the city is getting ready for the New Year. One of the main festive events will be the Journey to Christmas Festival. It will pass in Moscow from December 18 to January 10.
38 venues throughout the city will host street shows and concerts, as well as master classes on cooking and decor. There will also appear fairs with food and Christmas gifts. Everyone will be able to participate in different competitions, and the winners will get Christmas coins. These coins will be exchanged for gifts in special chalets, installed at the central fairs. The chalet-restaurants will sell coffee and tea with Russian pancakes, Asian sweets, pastries and fast food.
As a whole, 428 fair wooden structures, more than 40 natural spruce and more than 100 art objects will appear in the city streets.
During the Christmas holidays, there will work the biggest in Russia ice slide, historical photo-maze, four-meter height ice striking clock.
The ice rink at the Revolution Square will host 50 theatrical performances during the entire period of the festival. In addition, next Circle of Light Festival will take place in Moscow within the New Year’s holidays.
The city pedestrian zones will be decorated with light tunnels. Besides, the capital will host the first Moscow international festival Christmas Light. It will color the streets in the traditions of Italy, Spain and France. Each site of the festival will be dedicated to a different topic.
In total, the new winter season Moscow will feature 1 470 rinks (188 with artificial ice), 269 ski slopes, 556 snow slides and ice towns, 466 sports equipment rental points, 1723 winter sportsgrounds.
