We’ve prepared our usual list of the most interesting events in Moscow this weekend, October 17-18.

Over the past seven years, the International Festival of Independent Films 2morrow/Zavtra has established itself as one of the most outstanding events on Russia’s cultural scene. Currently in its eighth year, the 2015 edition of the 2morrow/Zavtra festival will provide metropolitan audiences with a unique opportunity to see some of the rare films that will not reach movie theaters in the country since they are not the blockbusters aimed at mass audiences favored by most film distributors.
This weekend, the festival will show the best short fiction, documentary and experimental films. On Saturday, you will see the first and second parts of the competition, short films and a retrospective of the iconic short films and Prototypes block presenting short videos, which became bases for loud full-length debuts.

REVERSE POINT ASIA EXHIBITION

The Sixth Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art presents a new project that will opens on October 16, at the Bread House of the Tsaritsino Museum-Reserve. The exhibition features works by contemporary artists from China, South Korea, Japan and Russia.
The project Reverse Point Asia compares art of Russia and Asia. Artists from Japan, China, South Korea and Russia show different forms and ways of interaction between traditions and modern reality. The project is based on the principle of achromatism as the unifier of visual artistic expression.
The exhibition will present works by fourteen contemporary artists. Among them are Ha Tae Bum and Mioon duet – participants of Korea 2015 Artists Prize, Chinese sculptor-surrealist Chen Wenling, participants of the 55th Venice Biennale Zhang Xiaotao, Su Xinping andFan Xie. Japan art will be presented by Naoki Fukui and Russian art – by Ivan Kolesnikov and Sergei Denisov, Konstantin Khudyakov, Victor Lukin, Evgeny Semenov and Aleksandra Mitlyanskaya.

Excellent designers and craftsmen from all over Russia will present their products at the fair, which will pass on October 17-18 at the Flakon Design Factory.
The fair will present warm clothes, natural cosmetics, delicious and beautiful sweets, soft toys and quite unusual gizmos that you will not find in a regular store!
Besides shopping, visitors of the fair will be able to take part in creative workshops and make funny pictures in photo booth. Children under 5 years old will get cotton candy for free.

FLEA MARKET IN THE BAUMAN’S GARDEN

The first in the series of regular flea markets will pass this Sunday in the Bauman’s Garden. Now, unique vintage jewelry or rare book editions will be available in one place.
On October 18 there will be held the first metropolitan regular flea market. It will work every Sunday from 12:00 to 17:00.
Here visitors will be able to buy handmade vintage jewelry, vintage dresses and suits, interesting souvenirs and unusual gifts, musical instruments, as well as works by unknown, but very talented Moscow artists.
The new flea market should also become a real mecca for collectors of rare book editions. Big antiquarian book fair will also be located on the territory of the flea market.

The largest event in the field of urban planning and urbanism will pass in the Moscow Manege on the weekend. The theme of the forum this year is Moscow as a Dynamic Megapolis. The first day, focused on professionals, will include round tables with senior officials on urban planning, city development trends and so on. On Sunday, there will start a festival program for everyone. The exhibition hall will show all the best that happened in Moscow in summer.
Throughout the day, workshops will run in the Open pavilion, where it will be possible to make vertical flowerbeds, containers for waste paper, artificial nests for birds, signs of urban initiatives, as well as mobile and stationary outdoor furniture.
This time the forum refused performances of popular bands, but decided to take care of the citizens’ health. On Saturday morning, you will be able to train in the intense cardio school #Sekta, and take part in fencing and kung-fu workshops by Sports Section in the middle of the day. It is better to register in advance to take part in the workshops.
