This year celebrations of the City Day will pass on September 5 and 6. In honor of 868 anniversary of the capital, many festive events will be held throughout Moscow and the city parks will be among the main venues of the celebrations. Festivals, large-scale fairs, theatrical performances, music concerts will be among the festivities.

The Gorky Park will try to create the atmosphere of the old Moscow and invites everyone to spend the City Day in warm company. There will be music, dancing and staying up all night. Famous songs about the capital and soundtracks from movies will sound at the Fountain Square and the Avenue of Arts will host an acoustic concert.
Besides, fans of outdoor sports will enjoy the StreetFire Festival. Presentations of different sub-cultures and fitness training will be held simultaneously at several venues at the park’s embankments. Visitors will be able to experience the effect of the acclaimed Les Mills fitness program, to visit the street workout championship, street dance, street ball, and see how the world’s best artists will create epic street art objects.

The Sokolniki Park has prepared a large-scale program of activities for its guests. There will be two interesting venues: Jazz at the Fountain Square and Theatre at the Festival Square. As part of the festival, famous jazz artists and musical groups (domestic and foreign) will perform. In honor of the City Day, there will also be held a colorful costumed Hat Party, which will present 30 most spectacular secular ballroom dances. In addition, everyone will be able to participate in a big tournament on table football.

Muzeon will turn into a field for sound improvisation and musical experiments in the framework of the Fields Festival. On September 5, the big stage will present contemporary avant-garde, experimental electronics and neo-classics, jazz and neo-folk. There will perform British musician Patten, Norwegian Stein Urim and guitarist James Blackshaw. The famous Russian beatmaker Mira Ishome will become the headliner of the festival.

The Vorontsovsky Park will hold a large-scale jazz festival on the City Day. Famous jazz tunes will sound on the main stage and the alleys of the park. Seven bands, such as the popular orchestra of Balkan music Bubamara Brass Band and string Quartet Sophia, will present their art to the audience. In addition to music, visitors of the park will see unique art objects, made by the creative Association Lavka Mira and Tsekh No. 1.

In honor of the holiday, the largest theatres of the capital will gather in the Hermitage Garden on September 5 and 6. Twelve Moscow theatres will participate in 12-hour theatrical marathon, which will inaugurate the opening of the new theatrical season. The Taganka Theatre, the Praktika Theatre, Meyerkhold;s Center, Obraztsov’s Puppet Theatre and other theatres will show performances for audiences of all ages.
