Here is our usual list of places – cafes, restaurants and culture spots – that have recently appeared in Moscow. This time we present you early September openings.
THE BREWHOUSE

The first pop-up project by independent creative association The Brewhouse has opened in Mytishchi. The association was created by a group of young artists and curators in search of new spaces and solutions for their work.
If traditionally contemporary art finds refuge in the premises of abandoned factories, the Brewhouse has opened at a working brewing plant. In total, there are four floors that host several temporary exhibition projects: street art (there is an exhibit of post-Soviet graffiti artist Enjoy), contemporary cinema (the program was created by the graduates of the Moscow school of new cinema). The second floor has become a sight for an apartment installation Energy Mytishchi, a light installation and an exhibition of Abce architectural group. In general, the Brewery is a venue for exhibiting young and very non-commercial art.
Israeli-style diner Hummus Sapiens has opened near the Obraztsov’s Puppet Theatre at Sadovaya-Samotechnaya Street. The diner is small; it can accommodate just 20 guests. The wall behind the bar is covered with slate paint to write the menu and leave messages for visitors. At the entrance, there is a parking for 12 bicycles.
The menu is rather concise. You can taste a potato pie Kugel (280 rubles - €3.01), hummus (290 rubles - €3.12), falafel (320 rubles - €3.44), hot dogs (240-320 rubles, €2.58 - €3.44), matzo-ball soup (290 rubles - €3.12), vegan-bob soup (249 rubles -€2.68), bagels (250-349 rubles, €2.69 - €3.75) and sufganiyot donuts (100 rubles - €1.08). You can drink a beer, coffee or American soda like Mountin Dew, cherry Dr. Pepper or sweet and strange tonic.
Every Friday evening Sabbath challah (different every week) is baked here, candles are lit and visitors are offered some kosher wine for free. Food in Hummus Sapiens is conditionally kosher. There are no dishes with pork, rabbit, seafood and fish, without scale; meat and milk are not mixed (and all dairy there is a separate fridge. However, there is no Mashgiach, and the cafe works on Saturdays.
Not too cheeky club and bar Backyard de Moscou has opened at Teatralniy driveway. The space for dancing here is not very big; however, additional space is expected to appear in the courtyard. Young chef, graduate of the French culinary school Le Cordon Bleu Anton Mounds heads the kitchen. The menu includes several types of burgers and sandwiches with cultural references in the titles, as well as the most known French dishes: quiches, tarts, crepes and soups currency. Nevertheless, much more attention is paid to alcohol. Despite the fact that prices are quite reasonable – 300-450 rubles (€3.23 - €4.84) for a cocktail, the quality of drinks is very good. For example, you can taste Green Ivy cocktail (300 rubles - €3.23), made from gin, herbal liqueur Chartreuse and basil, or Snoogans (300 rubles - €3.23), made from vanilla vodka, strawberries, cream and lemon juice.
A new take out restaurant with burgers Horoshee Delo (Good Thing) has appeared at Sukharevsky lane, near the Sukharevskaya metro station. The place’s brand-chef Garbus Samuel is a member of the Britain’s Guild of Chefs. Previously, he worked on the London project Fifteen together with Jamie Oliver.
The restaurant serves meat from domestic farmers. The menu consists of 11 kinds of burgers: Classic Burger and Chicken Fresh (250 rubles - €2.69), Wellington burger with Portobello mushrooms, truffle mayonnaise and horseradish sauce (400 rubles - €4.30), Hawaiian Boom with grilled pineapple, cheddar cheese, bacon and mango-jalapeno (480 rubles - €5.16) and Mexican burger with nachos, guacamole and salsa sauce (400 rubles - €4.30).
Vegetarians will appreciate Vegeto burger with falafel, hummus, lettuce, tomato and pesto sauce (250 rubles - €2.69). In addition, there are burgers with cheese: Blue Cheese with Dorblu (300 rubles - €3.23), Taxi Driver with cheddar (350 rubles - €3.76) and Italian burger with mozzarella, mushrooms and red pesto (400 rubles - €4.30). In addition, the restaurant serves XL-size burger called Fat Daddy (580 rubles - €6.24). Besides burgers, the menu includes salads, sandwiches, snacks and pork ribs. You can take coffee, leaf tea, smoothies, two types of beer, soda, as well as draught kvas for a drink.
The City Farm, an entertainment and educational center for children, has started to work at VDNKh. There are real cows, sheep, goats, rabbits and poultry.
The City Farm was built on the project of the Wowhaus Architectural Bureau, which updated Krymskaya embankment, Center of Documentary Cinema and Stanislavsky Electrotheatre.
There are three educational blocks at the total area of about 3 hectares. There is a livestock area (dairy, poultry houses and areas for grazing farm residents), Children’s Building Playground and year-round workshops (children will be taught pottery and woodworking lessons, basket weaving, carving and painting wooden figures, glassware and household items) and the third zone hosts a greenhouse, an orchard and a vegetable garden. There is also a children’s cooking school, a fishing area on the banks of the Kamenka River, summer picnic area, naturalists’ lodge with a forest library and inclusive playground.
The City Farm works daily from 11:00 to 20:00. For children under 3 years admission is free, for the rest — 200 rubles (€2.15) on weekdays and 300 rubles (€3.23) on days-off. Master classes and other services are paid separately.
