A new Mobile Ticket service has launched in Moscow. It allows passengers to pay public transport fares with a mobile phone.
The service is available at all kinds of public transport – metro, buses, trolleybuses and trams. It is free, with no subscription fee. However, you need to have a SIM-card with NFC in your phone. NFC is a technology that enables data exchange between devices located at a distance of less then 10 cm. The Mobile Ticket Service with NFC technology enables you to pay for using public transport, including the Moscow Metro and Aeroexpress, and even the entrance fee of the Moscow Zoo.
Therefore, it will be enough to bring a mobile phone to the turnstile, and the fare will be debited from an electronic purse on a Troika card. The price of a trip will be same as the Troika’s electronic purse ticket. The balance replenishment will be made from your mobile account. Check balance service is available via SMS.
