The Museum Night in Moscow is an annual project, dedicated to the International Museum Day, which involves many cultural institutions of the capital. It is the only time, when you can visit museums in the evening and at night. From May 16 to 17, the ninth Museum Night will take place.
This year 250 most popular metropolitan and federal museums and galleries will participate in the festival. Among them are the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Museum of Moscow, Multimedia Art Museum, Bulgakov’s House-Museum, Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the NCCA, Vinzavod, Artplay and others.

HISTORIC BALL IN TSARITSINO
In honor of the Museum Night, Tsaritsino will be open right up to midnight. A ball with waltzes, mazurkas, polonaises and other once popular dances will become the main event of the evening. Visitors of the Museum-Reserve will be able to learn the dances and attend the ball. There will also be a light-drawing contest, an organ concert (in the atrium of the Bread House), piano marathon (all day in Bazhenov Hall of the Grand Palace), children’s workshops and a quiz and many more.

NEURAL NETWORK IN POLYTECHNIC MUSEUM

Polytechnical Museum will present an interactive object Neural Network that simulates the work of neurons in human brain. Visitors themselves will become a part of the installation. In addition, it will be possible to attend a tour in the open funds: robots will guide the excursions and exhibits, including Rice Cooker, photographic enlargers and watches will talk about themselves.

Special project of the Tretyakov Gallery Squred Night is dedicated to the main event of the year – the centenary of Black Square by Kazimir Malevich. Hall of the museum will become a decoration for theater artist Galina Solodovnikova, laureate of the Golden Mask award. In addition, viewers will see the installation Suprematist Ballet by artist Sasha Leroy and will hear an open-air concert by the Tchaikovsky’s Big Symphony Orchestra.

THE RETURN OF THE GREAT SILENT
Within the framework of the Return of the Great Silent program, there will take place a display of the classic film Children of the Century with Verakholodnaya in the courtyard of the Museum of Moscow. Guests will learn about the fate of the great actresses of the silent films and the importance of film in the early cinema. The action will be accompanied by live music.

NIGHT AT THE JEWISH MUSEUM

The Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center will present the most high-tech exhibition in the country. The exhibition Contemporaries of the Future. Jewish Artists in Russian Avant Guard. 1910-1980 will feature the best works of twentieth century’s Russian art, as well as chrestomathy pictures at the retrospective Alfred Eisenstadt. The Father of Photojournalism. Moreover, visitors will be able to see the premiere of audio-visual performance The Sky above Vitebsk. A temporary cafe with kosher food and hot drinks will work in the courtyard of the museum.
QUEST-PERFORMANCE IN MUZEON
Theater director Yury Kwiatkowski, the author of famous Normans, prepared a special show Pyramid for the Museum Night in Muzeon. This will be a noir play-promenade. The audience will move through the park along with the actors and unwittingly become heroes of the action. Leonid Leonov’s novel Pyramid, over which the writer had worked for more than forty years, became the basis of the performance.
