PIRELLI 2015 EXHIBITION IN MAMM
Pirelli Calendar 2015
MAMM presents an exhibition of the legendary Pirelli calendar. Over fifty years, the brightest stars of the photography world took part in the project. Among them are Richard Avedon, Herb Ritts, Peter Lindbergh, Helmut Newton, Sarah Moon, Annie Leibovitz, Mario Testino, Karl Lagerfeld, Patrick Demarchelier, as well as the most beautiful and talented models and actresses: Sophia Loren, Penelope Cruz, Julianne Moore, Monica Bellucci, Cindy Crawford, Kate Moss, Natalia Vodianova, Heidi Klum, Gisele Bundchen, Adriana Lima and others.
The first edition of the calendar was published in 1964 to mark the opening of the Pirelli branch in the UK. Robert Freeman was the photographer of the first issue. Since then, the idea of creating exclusive art edition, the possession of which was synonymous with belonging to luxury and glamor world, had appeared. In 2015, Pirelli released its 42 calendar, created by one of the most influential and popular fashion-photographers – Steven Meisel.
Famous Carine Roitfeld, who had led French Vogue for 10 years, participated in the work on the calendar. She inspired Meisel to create provocative, sensual, bold images by using latex as a part of models’ costumes.
This year, the calendar’s heroines are Americans Gigi Hadid, Candice Huffine, Carolyn Murphy and Cameron Russell, Brazilians Isabeli Fontana, Adriana Lima and Raquel Zimmerman, an Englishwoman Karen Elson, Puerto Rican Joan Smalls, Russians Natalia Vodianova and Sasha Luss, as well as German Anna Evers.
TROPICAL WINTER FESTIVAL IN APOTHECARY GARDEN
Apothecary Garden invites you to plunge into the atmosphere of the tropics tis winter: the greenhouses of the Botanical Garden will turn into three southern countries – rainforest with many unique orchids, equatorial swamp with carnivorous plants and a small desert that gathers representatives of the most unusual distant drylands.
On December 20, the old Palm House opens annual Winter Festival of orchids, which will run until the end of March. Greenhouse will be filled with thousands of flowering plants with amazing properties: striking with shapes and colors, lightning in the dark, exuding incredible flavors – from the smell of dust, stale cheese and burnt tires to fancy southern fragrance. All of them can be seen and smelled during the festival.
However, there will be not only demonstration of plants –visitors will see unusual design installations created by artists from a variety of tropical plants – bromeliads, ferns and, of course, orchids.
This year’s premiere is an exhibition «Garden of Carnivorous Plants» that will turn apart of Palm House into a tropical swamp with a small waterfall. It will settle more than 200 types of carnivorous flora.
The festival will run in Apothecary Garden until March 31, 2015.
ANIMATION FESTIVAL SKY FEST
Formula Kino Horizon holds the first festival of animation from all around the world SKY FEST. The festival will last until December 21.
Computer anecdote about sentimental boxer and drawт thriller about a phantom limb, puppet story about love and the philosophical music video from woolen threads, travel notes from one of pilgrimage and Hokku, painted with tea – SKY FEST Festival united cartoons of divisive genres from different countries. Funny and touching, absurd and serious, provocative and respectable – all program’s cartoons are original and unusual, made in a unique style.
Geographical coverage of the program is unprecedented: it contains short films from France, Germany, Japan and Iran, the US, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Nigeria.
Viewers will be able to see films that are well known to those who follow the animation festivals: the list includes works nominated for Oscar and received prestigious awards of Berlin, Ottawa and Annecy festivals. Other movies, quite new, have not yet become famous; third ones are likely to have Internet success than the recognition of the festivals.
NEW YEAR MARKETS
The three-day Lambada Market opens in Tsvetnoy Central Store on December 19. It is a good alternative to outdoor New Year Fairs. Firstly, because you can choose the gifts in warmth and comfort, and secondly, because the choice of sold goods is very nice. This time, 190 shops, collectors, artists and design- studios will present their production. Here you can buy unusual clothing, vintage, collected on European flea markets, accessories, home furnishings and furniture, vinyl records, books – and, of course, the Christmas tree and Christmas decorations.
The food court will consist of 15 projects of street food. There are promised three dance floors with DJs from Enthusiast Records and DiG. Moreover, this time Lambada is joined by DIY-culture festival «Do-fest» with workshops, which will teach tinkering light sculptures and watercolor illustrations, knit Christmas socks and do other entertaining stuff.

The fair, which will sell lithography, silkscreen and linocut, will be held in Powerhouse Club on December 20.
During one day, artists, publishers, gallery owners, art students and enthusiasts that develop printing culture in Russia will gather under one roof. A big market with manually printed copyright prints, discussions of graphics culture and its techniques, as well as master classes in screen-printing.

The Seasons of Life magazine traditionally holds its fairs in the Hermitage Garden. Christmas Fair is not an exception. It will take place on December 20-21. The fair will be made as a traditional European Christmas Market. There will be Christmas toys, gifts and treats, winter design and music – specially invited choir will perform Christmas melodies. Children will see plays about magic and good, and adults will receive help of professional consultants on decorating a Christmas tree. About 50 shops and independent designers will participate in the fair.
