Here is our usual weekend guide. Two theater festivals, charity festival and the Music Night await you on October 04-05.
MUSIC NIGHT
Music Night is held in Moscow for the second time. The program as usual is varied – the event goes at hundreds of sites, from concert halls and museums to theaters and galleries. You can find music at any taste. Until midnight, there will be free performances of both classical and contemporary musicians.
The special charm of the event lies in the opportunity of going to the legendary halls in the late hours. For example, the Great Hall of the Conservatory will hold musical extravaganza by the Large Symphony Orchestra and Alina Bayeva at 23.00. Moscow International Performing Arts Center will host a «Slow Night Music» by Ossetinskaya and Batalov at 21.00.
For those who want contemporary music, there also be many options. Thus electronic musician Jekka will play at VDNKh, the new bar «Youngs Pub» on Pjatnitskaya Street promises a concert of Trud, to Flacon Design Factory will host a concert of Guru Groove Foundation.
There also will be poetry readings with vinyl accompaniment at the Svetlov’s library at Bolshaya Sadovaya Street.

«SOLO» THEATER FESTIVAL
VII International Festival of Solo Performances «Solo» is a unique project. During the six years of the festival’s existence, Moscow audience has been acquainted with the best actors and directors from Russia, Europe and America.
Throughout the years, there were shown solo performances by Robert Wilson and Wajdi Mouawad, Konstantin Raikin and Rosa Hyrullina, Daniele Finzi Pasca, Dany Laban, Pippo Delbono, Angélica Liddell, Jan Fabre, Theodoros Terzopoulos, Sonia Bergamasco, Pauline Agureyeva, Recep Mitrovica Paolo Muzio, Pyotr Mamonov, Eugeniy Grishkovec, Fabrizio Dzhifuni, Danio Manfredini and others.
This time, the program has many interesting productions by authors from Italy, France and Belgium. On Saturday, you will be able to see a solo performance «Jura» from St. Petersburg. It was put by notes of a sixteen-year-old boy Jura Ryabinkin from the besieged Leningrad.
On Sunday, the festival will show performance by Belgian dancer Cédric Charron, «Wait, wait, wait … (for my father) ». Light, smoke and air temperature in the auditorium together with the movements of the actor play an important role in this performance. It will be shown in French with Russian subtitles.
Performances go at two venues – Boyarskie Chambers and Theater Center «Na Strastnom».
«DAY OF JOY»
Large charity family festival «Day of Joy» will be held for the second time. This year, the Museum of Moscow will gather more than 39 Russian charity funds and all the thrift stores in Moscow.
Among the participants of the festival there are artistic center «Maria’s Children», charity funds «Children’s Heart», «Nasten’ka», «Pomogi.Org»,
«Advita», «Creation», «Faith» and others. Each of these funds has a big experience in conducting charitable activities, and together they put on a real family festival.
The program of the «Day of Joy» includes charity fair, concerts, children’s party and a treat from the famous Moscow cafes. At the fair, there will be sold things from charity shops «Shop joys», «Blagobutik», «CharityShop» and the project «Good hanger». In addition, you will be able to find decorations, gifts, toys and souvenirs handmade by artists and funds’ volunteers at the fair.
A large space at the festival will be allocated for the old children’s and adult books, rare vinyl records. In addition, professional photographers and stylists will make a fashion photo shoot for the festival’s guests.
The most striking thing at the festival will be a large children’s area, which will be organized by professional animators and actors. Young visitors will be able to take part in a variety of classes for toddlers and older children, bubble show, will have room to slide shows and cartoons, watch children’s performances and win contests. In addition, each hour will be a charity raffle.
«TERRITORIA» INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL
On October 1-14, Moscow will host the Ninth Territoria International Festival and School of Contemporary Performing Arts. The main program will feature eight plays (and one concert) from Great Britain, Germany, South Africa and Russia, which represent various trends in theatre and contemporary art from dance to live installation. The main venue of the festival will be the Theatre of Nations. The special program «Living spaces» is traditionally held off the theatre stage, in the most unexpected places adapted by the participants for their plays.
As usual, the festival presents an educational program for students majoring in creative arts. ‘Territoria’ organizing committee will select the applications from the students of Russian and foreign universities who will get an opportunity to watch the whole program of the festival and take part in the workshops from famous masters of contemporary theatre for free.
On weekend Shakespeare’s «Sonnets» by director is Timofey Kulyabin will be shown. In this project, he refers to the sonnets devoted to fading and oblivion. In this performance, Kulyabin contemplates the last effort of the human brain, the last glance a man casts over his life, recollecting the most memorable moments. These micro-events become a so-called quintessence of human existence, which is gracefully depicted in this poetic performance.
On Sunday, there will be an evening of foreign guests – German theater «Shaubyune” – brings the «Enemies» by Henrik Ibsen. A performance where the audience actively participate at the final.
