«ArtChronika» Foundation presents the biggest independent national Russian award in contemporary art – «Kandinsky Prize». This year you can see works of the participants in «Udarnik» cinema (Serafimovicha St. 2) from September 18 to November 30.
The award is named after a distinguished artist. Kandinsky is more than a painter, he is a symbol of novelty in culture, and his heritage has provided a solid foundation for cultural exchange in the world of art. The award aims to support and develop Russian contemporary art and secure its positions in Russia and on the world stage. «Kandinsky Prize» is considered one of the most important national awards in the contemporary art field.
There are three nominations: «Project of the Year», «Young Artist of the Year» and «Scholarly work. History and Theory of Contemporary Art» – the prize in the latter category is the publication of the work. Any Russian artist without exception may be the candidate for the Kandinsky Prize. The winners are determined by an international jury, with the participation of the council of experts.
Visitors of «Udarnik» will see fragments of 30 projects ranging from photo installation with fresh flowers about wooden architecture of Nizhny Novgorod by Vladislav Efimov to 3D-video about the mysterious gurgling something by art group «Blue Soup».
