The Lumiere Brothers Photography Center presents an exhibition by Japanese photographer Shigeru Yoshida. The exposition will include 22 black and white photos, made in a unique technique «Fresco Giclée».
Shigeru Yoshida is a new name for Russia. The author began his career by creating a series of «Big Tree in This World», photographing, mostly in Africa and Madagascar, Taiwan, USA, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, the United Kingdom. During almost 30 years of creativity, Shigeru Yoschida has repeatedly exhibited in Japan and the U.S., and received membership in the Professional Photographic Society of Japan.
In 2011, after the devastative tsunami in his native Japan, Shigeru began working on a series of photographs «Borders». Internal experience of the author is reflected in his works: it reveals the sacred value of water, an outlook on the Japanese culture, where the water flow means life, the inextricable link between man and nature. Minimalistic images of Shigeru’s works adjusts the viewer on a philosophical mood.
Shigeru has traveled through his native Japan in search of images that he presents in his photographs. Wandering, collecting memories of the picturesque landscapes of the country, the author expresses his respect for the element of water.
The method Shigeru Yoshida uses for manufacturing black and white photos is as thin and delicate, as the process of creating Japanese calligraphy. Master works in a unique technique «Fresco Giclée», which creates a unique charm Shigeru images. The author uses a tandem of modern printing technology and Renaissance method of working with frescoes. Shigeru’s work on the series «Borders» continues to this day.
