«Ten thousand wiles and a hundred thousand tricks» is the last chapter of Meeting Points 7 – a multidisciplinary contemporary arts festival, focused on artistic production from the Arab World. The history of the festival began in 2012, as a reaction on the rebellion shockwaves across the Arab World since 2011. Meeting Points 7 was devised as an international exhibition project, taking place in different geographic locations, whose artists, artworks and conceptual focuses shifted in response to the local contexts. «Ten thousand wiles and a hundred thousand tricks» presents twenty contemporary Arab artists, working in different genres.
The title «Ten thousand wiles and a hundred thousand tricks» is a quote taken from «Wretched of the Earth» – a reflection on the Algerian Revolution by Frantz Fanon, a philosopher and a revolutionary.
By the way, visiting this exhibition is a unique opportunity to see the Tarasov’s house on Spiridonovka St., where the Institute for African Studies is located. At usual, the entrance here is limited, though it is a very important monument of Moscow architecture.
Please note that individual visitors are not admitted due to the academic functioning of the Institute. To attend the exhibition, please join one of the guided group tours and register here. The tours are held Monday to Friday at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. The exhibition will last until August 22 at Spiridonovka Street, 30/1.
