More than 100 employees of the Moscow Metro underwent English courses that will help them to communicate with foreign tourists at a basic level. Another 150 people will start to learn soon.
The program was developed by the career guidance service of the subway. Security service specialists, mobility center staff, working with people with disabilities, as well as cashiers will take the English language courses in the nearest future.
There are two courses of learning the language: the first is created for those who do not speak English. Employees who have undergone the course will know 40-50 foreign words and phrases to be able to help foreigners to buy a ticket or explain how to get to a certain monument. The second course is for those who in any way know the language.
English speaking employees will work at the central metro stations, most popular among tourists, such as Okhotny Ryad or Ploschad Revolutsii metro stations.
