The main Russian Christmas tree has appeared at the Kremlin’s Sobornaya Square. The tree was brought to the capital on December 18 from the Istra district of the Moscow Region. The main country’s spruce was chosen by its height and appearance: it has proper crown shape and uniform color of the needles. The height of the tree is 30 meters, the trunk diameter is 0.8 meters and the lower branches spread over 12 meters. The spruce is about 120 years old. The Christmas tree is decorated in the style of the Soviet vintage.
According to the Deputy Head of the President’s Operational Administration Anatoly Kachanov, the Christmas tree will stand at the Sobornaya Square until January 22. Then it will go for production of souvenirs.
The new year holidays will become a great opportunity to see the main Christmas tree in Russia, as well as all the other spruces and light decorations in the city. This year, the capital looks magic! 38 venues throughout Moscow offer fantastic decorations, Christmas fairs, and festive entertainment. Despite the fact that the Red Square will be closed for the public this new Year night, many parks and squares in Moscow will host New Year celebrations.
